BMWi Series Owner’s Guide

Electricity is now solidly engrained in the automobile industry, and BMW isn’t taking a backseat. The BMWi Series is revolutionizing electric vehicles one model at a time.

Every aspect of the vehicles in the BMWi Series keeps energy efficiency and eco consciousness in mind. Even the facilities they are built in use much less energy than the average plant. But that doesn’t mean performance and style have been sacrificed. If anything they have been enhanced.

The two BMWi Series models vary wildly in price with one starting at just over $42,000 and the other coming in at an astounding $141,000. But with vehicles this revolutionary and well built the price is often justified.

The BMWi Series Models

The BMWi Series lineup is small, but it’s expected to get larger in a very short period of time. There are two models for right now, but BMW already has plans to introduce another addition by the end of 2018.

The current BMWi Series models include:

BMW i3 – Compact, practical and totally fun to drive. The BMW i3 is purely electric and made for people that want more performance out of an EV.

BMW i8 – Tesla isn’t the only luxury electric car manufacturer. The BMW i8 is a plug-in hybrid that has the styling and power of a sports car.

Electric car enthusiasts can expect BMW to continue investing in new models as the company puts a lot of weight behind their Project i 2.0 Program. One of the latest announcements was the emergence of the iNEXT model. By 2020 iNEXT will bring a new level of automated and integrated driving to the American market.

The BMWi Series Essentials

BMWi Series Performance Factor

When people think of electric and hybrid cars performance isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. That’s part of the reason BMW launched the i Series. Both the i3 and the i8 deliver in the performance department.

• Up to 420 pound-foot of torque (i8 model)
• 184 pound-foot of torque (i3 model)
• 0-to-60 in 4.2 seconds (i8 model)
• 0-to-30 in 3.5 seconds and 0-to-100 in 7.2 seconds (i3 model)
• 170 horsepower (i3 model)
• 357 horsepower (i8 model)
• i8 is a 6-speed shiftable automatic
• With the range extender the i3 can go up to 150 miles on a single charge
• Dynamic stability control

BMWi Series The Look
The two models of the BMWi Series couldn’t look more different on the outside as far as body style goes. One is a small, traditional-looking EV while the other is supremely sleek and sporty.

However the i3 and i8 do sport similar color schemes and the same blue trimmed kidney grill. They also both feature eco-friendly design elements like leather tanned with olive leaf extract. The look of both vehicles will certainly appeal to anyone that prefers streamlined, minimalistic beauty.

BMWi Series Tech Components
When you’ve got such an innovative engine you’ve got to have all the latest tech components that can keep pace. The most notable tech components of the BMWi Series models include:
